(MABLE) Bash at Lane's
In the late summer of 2000, Lane hosted a group of bassists from Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, and North Carolina. The Low-enders spent a day enjoying a lavish buffet, jamming and exchanging ideas. The event was sponsored in part by Spector Basses (Thanks to PJ Rubal and Stuart Spector) and Lane Poor pickups. Below, some pictures from the event.
Hidden in the darkness (2nd from left), Lane jams with other MABLE members. "Everyone got a chance to play," Lane said, "and most got a chance to sit and listen. But they wouldn't let me put down the Thunder Bass!"

Roughly half the participants were Eden users, including several of Lane's students. Shown here with Lane's Thunder rig and, to the right of the fish tank in background, Lane's Baby Thunder rig. Lane, an Eden endorser for several years won't use anything else. "Why should I? Nothing else comes close," he said. "When I want my sound, I always use Eden." At center is Lane's nephew, Rob Geary, holding his Fender® fretless Jazz, "an amazing bassist and up and coming engineer and producer," Lane said. "You should hear the tracks he's been producing for his band up in Boston. Just wonderful, I tell you."

On the back porch grinning for all they're worth. In the center of the front row, the first Renaissance that Lane ever played."I feel so bad that I can't remember the owner's name," Lane said. "He was a really nice guy and a great player. He was kind enough to let me thump his baby for a while, and it was this experience that led me to eventually purchase the Fretless Wonder."

Another group shot, this time in the living room. When asked for names, Lane dropped his jaw. "Do you know how many times I've slept since then? I remember several of them," he said, "because about half these guys were students of mine. But I don't want to insult the others by printing only half the names."
