Lane
leans into a solo on his Spector NS-6P Custom.

Lane with the new Thunder Rig - a WT1205 powering a D610XLT
cabinet. This shot wsa taken at Porter's Oyster Bar in
Crystal Lake, IL when Lane subbed for Bluzilla, a killer
Blues band led by Paul Buschbacher, formerly of Li'l Ed
and the Blues Imperials. |

Lane
(at right) with The Bruce Hayes Band at the Inaugural
Durango Summer Music Festival. Ernie couldn't make it,
so they played a 90-minute power-trio set. The mountains
and clouds worked very well as a backdrop. As perucssionist
Bones oftens says, "it doesn't suck too bad."

Another
shot from Durango. On larger stages, Lane brings out
the Thunder rig - 800 watts of muscle pumping air through
a D-410XLT cab. One other trick is to ask the monitor
technician to "make everything louder than everything
else!"

As
Guest Artist with David Goodrich. Shown here performing
his solo piece, "Bass of the Hills".

Lane
cradles his new baby, the Fretless Wonder - a Renaissance
fretless five-string. "Rick Turner and his crew
did an absolutely incredible job building this one.
It features the craziest piece of maple you're ever
likely to see.. And the tone is just beautiful!"

Here's
another one from the Renphoto shoot. Another "Wait!
I wasn't ready!" shot.

Watching
Bones' every move during a drum & bass duet section
at the Lake City Wine & Music Festival. "You've
got to hear Bones live to really understand how great
he is. On a recording, you think you're hearing a drummer
and a percussionist. You're not . . . it's all him.
It can be very challenging, but it's also great fun."

This
is the one that's on the main page, except for the T-shirt.
Bill Henschell did the graphic magic. Lane's NS-6P Custom
is truly a one-of-a-kind. "PJ and I talked about
this recently. There were very few made with the fiber
optic neck marker system - most of them went to Jason
Newsted and were a different body design that's very
similar to their current Rex model. And this may well
be the first custom to get Black hardware. Darker tone,
don't you know . . ."
